  Self-Defined Final Project - My Reflections of Photojournalism Class  How well you feel that you met your stated requirements. The professor suggested a deviation from my plan to use my photography to represent my storytelling structure. I utilized Premier Pro and made a narrative video presentation. I chose images corresponding to the overall impressions and emotional experience I felt I would take away from photojournalism class. I featured images reflecting my journey as a photographer, how I have improved, and demonstrating my passions. I felt my video represents my reflections and how the class impacted me. I chose not to do music. Instead, I began with an introduction and ended with a quote, as these were more impactful.   What Motivates Me and Photojournalists? This is a photo of Stacy Pearsall featured in Upcountry History Museum   Learning about Stacy Pearsall and how she was injured during the conflict was sad but inspiring. While she recovered, she created The Veterans Portrait Project . This is motivating because even though she was hurt she did not give up but continued to take pictures. I find stories like hers motivational, people who experience setbacks but pick themselves up and keep moving forward. Especially in Stacy Pearsall's case as she not only helped herself but helped shine a light on others' hardships as well.  In “ A Pasion For Photography” by Robert Long, Jocelyne Benzakin talks about photographer Gilles Peress and how his images are “journalism but it’s also art” and how W. Many felt the same overall feeling as they showed human conflict, suffering, and the resulting agony. However, even with those feelings, some had hope despite the despair; Fabian Lugo had a picture of children playing on an artillery gun. The stark contrast between the children playing and the purpose of the gun makes this picture stand out to me. Jameson Beaty featured an image of 9/11 with a man falling from one of the towers; this intenseness of seeing a person fall to their death is impactful.  It makes you pause and reflect on the circumstances to caused such a tragedy. " Going Home ", Photo by Ed Clark  B:  I see a man playing an accordion, he appears to be in a military uniform and at some social gathering that may be a funeral. It appears that he is crying as he plays, and the people in the background look upset. Also, I think he may be a naval officer, as his uniform resembles what sailors wear with an anchor on his hat. This image means to me mourning a death, a somber celebration. In the blog “ A Struggle For Democracy Part 1” by Shahidual Alam speaks about how photos can capture “personal stories”. Alam explains that images can be a documentation of “socio-political phenomenon.” History might not tell how much people care about the death of someone, but a photo can capture it. President Franklin D. Roosevelt was beloved. This photo tells me that this is something I did not learn in history class, I learned about what Roosevelt did for his country as President but not how the people felt about him. Midterm Contemporary Photojournalism Issue Project

My narrated video for my midterm contemporary photojournalism issue project creates a visual storytelling accompanying my narrative around climate change. I utilize images of photojournalists' environmental reporting to tell a story from my perspective of climate issues. Emphasizing the impact on our environment and connecting the valuable resource of water to the results of the climate disasters and resulting issues for communities. Some of the problems highlighted in the video are the damage of oil spills in the ocean, the result of drought and rising temperatures, and how they impact the weather, resulting in more climate issues. Water is my overall theme; my thought process represents this valuable resource and how global warming impacts it.
